SAP BDC Connect for Microsoft Fabric: The game changer for data, AI and business insights

Digital transformation is reaching a new level: with the announcement of SAP Business Data Cloud (BDC) Connect for Microsoft Fabric at Microsoft Ignite 2025, SAP and Microsoft are sending a strong signal for the future of data integration, AI and analytics. This gives companies a seamless bridge between SAP data and the Microsoft data platform - without copying, without complexity, with maximum added value.

What is behind the connection between SAP BDC and MS Fabric?

The new solution enables bi-directional, zero-copy sharing between the SAP Business Data Cloud and Microsoft Fabric.

This means:

  • SAP data products can be integrated directly into Microsoft OneLake - the AI-enabled data lake from MS Fabric.
  • Conversely, data from OneLake is also available in SAP BDC to supplement intelligent applications.

The result is a harmonized, semantically rich data foundation that enables companies to develop analytics and AI applications faster and more securely.

Relevance for business practice

But technology alone isn't enough—it must create added value for users.

The integration of SAP and Microsoft Fabric opens up many new possibilities in this context:

  • Advanced Analytics with Power BI: SAP data can be used in Power BI—including natural language queries with Copilot.
  • Enterprise-Level AI Applications: Microsoft AI Foundry and Fabric Data Agents enable the creation of intelligent apps based on business-critical SAP data.
  • Productivity rethought: The combination of M365 Copilot and SAP Joule creates a platform in which harmonized data is available directly in Excel or Teams.

Advantages at a glance

The real-world examples demonstrate just how great the potential of this integration is. It not only creates new opportunities but also delivers measurable benefits.
